What a great way to start a new year, with a new learning tool - - - blogs. I hope you actually use this with your students and let them give it a try. I could see a lot of excitement as they reflect on their summer and read about the adventures of their friends!
Sixth grade was along time ago- but maybe I do remember loving my summers- growing up in Colorado offered many weekend jaunts and explorations in the mountains. My family took weekender drives to the mountains- no I70 back then. Lots of curves and skinny roads! We spent our day wading in shallow areas of the rivers/picnics along side of the roads and collecting rocks. Life was pretty simple back then. We loved it then and I still love going back - so many fond memories. :-)
Linda, I think this is a great post for the beginning of the year! It will be the basis to building those relationships that are so important in our children's lives.

All summer I studied math, science, and social studies. I read 15 books. I did get to go on a little vacation to the mountains too. :)
What kind of group are you sending us ?
Oh, to be in 6th grade again!
I think this is a great idea for journal writing.
I learned how to ride a dirtbike and went whitewater rafting.

Good idea for a "back-to-school" blog for your students!
